Why Stretch Fabrics Matter on Parade Day

Carnival costumes take a beating. You're sweating through spandex, bumping into feathered headdresses, dancing in humidity that won't quit—so the fabric has to stretch, bounce back, and survive multiple wearings without falling apart. Grandgarden uses 85% polyester / 15% spandex blends and sequined mesh that actually breathe and move with you instead of fighting you. (Yeah, you could go polyester-only, but then you can't lift your arms.) The lamé and glitter stay put because they're glued and stitched, not just stuck on. Double-stitched seams at the crotch and armholes because that's always the first place to split. Wear it in December, January, February—sometimes all three if you're doing the whole circuit—and the elastic stays tight, the fabric doesn't sag, sequins don't go anywhere.

Stretch Spandex Blends

The 85% polyester, 15% spandex combo recovers fast, doesn't bag out, and breathes when it's hot. Built to handle repeated wears through the whole season.

Double-Stitched Seams

Armholes, crotch and hems get reinforced stitching because that's where costumes fail. We use industrial thread, not the cheap stuff.

Glued + Stitched Sequins

Sequins and lamé trim attach two ways at once. If one fails, the other holds. Nothing sheds mid-parade.

Sized for Real Bodies

Children from 2T up to 14, adults XS throjgh XXL. Measured against actual people, not vanity sizing. Sleeve length and inseam are spelled out so there's no guessing.

What You Need to Know Before Ordering

Four things that separate last-minute panic from actually being ready.

1

Shipping Cutoffs Change Month to Month

Order before December 20 and your costume ships in a couple days. After that, you're waiting 5–7 days because half the internet is ordering costumes at the same time. Inventory gets tight fast. We keep fast-ship stock around, but if you wait until mid-January, you're one of hundreds placing the same order. Check the cutoff calendar before you add anything to your cart. December 21 doesn't work like December 1.

2

Sizing Accuracy Means Measuring, Not Guessing

Kids' sizes need sleeve length and inseam. Adults need chest width and full inseam. Don't estimate. If you're ordering matching costumes for a school group, send us heights and weights and we'll sort sizing before it ships. One bad size during the rush and getting a replacement to you takes time you probably don't have.

3

Pieces Mix Across Collections — If You Know Which Ones

The ringmaster jacket works over an acrobat unitard. A clown ruffle collar fits on the fortune teller robe fine. Not every combo looks intentional though, so product pages show which pieces actually layer without looking like you got dressed in the dark. Saves you from scrambling at midnight.

4

Spandex Blends Survive Multiple Wearings, But Fabric Care Matters

Cold hand-wash, lay flat to dry. Hot water and the dryer bag out the elastic and dull sequins fast. Flat drying takes about 2 hours. It's not complicated, just something you actually have to do if you're wearing the same costume three times across different events in a month.

How Grandgarden Works

Three things that shift when you're ordering close to the deadline.

Stock Runs Out Fast During Peak Season

December through February is Carnival season in Brazil. New Orleans gets flooded with orders by early January and Caribbean school groups finalize their sizes by late November. Come mid-January, the XL and XXL clown rompers are gone. Ringmaster jackets in sizes 6–10 vanish first because that's when demand peaks. Order cutoffs move every month because inventory pressure is real. We keep backup stock for quick reshipping but there's only so much of it. Wait too long into January and your size choices shrink. Check availability before you lock in a date.

Children and Adult Sizing Are Measured, Not Guessed

Costume fit actually matters. Pieces that don't fit right don't move properly and kids lose confidence during the parade. Children sizes 2T–14 come with sleeve length and inseam measurements so you know what you're getting. Adults get chest width plus full inseam. School groups ordering 15 or more matching costumes should send a roster with heights and weights. We pre-assign sizes before packing, which stops the reshipping nightmare that blows deadlines.

Pieces Layer Together by Design

Mix-and-match pieces actually work. A ringmaster jacket layers over an acrobat unitard without bunching. Clown ruffle collars sit right on fortune teller robes. Not every combination looks intentional though, so each product page shows which pieces pair well visually. That matters when you're building a group look or layering for one person. Spandex blends and sequined mesh coordinate because they use the same stretch principles, so combinations don't fall apart.

Schools & Organizations

Order 15 Matching Costumes, One Bill

You need 15 clown rompers in sizes 6–12 for your school parade. Order by December 20 and they're here in 3 days. Give us a roster with each kid's height, weight, and shirt size. We assign sizes before packing so you're not opening boxes and finding half don't fit. One invoice. Ship to multiple addresses if you want things going straight to homes, or send it all to one pickup spot. Order 16 and we add an extra in case someone doesn't fit or the roster changes last minute. That actually matters. You get a discount on 10+ of the same item. We've handled this for Bloco groups in Rio, school organizations in New Orleans, parade committees in the Caribbean. The logistics are simple if you're clear about what you need from the start. Nothing unexpected. No scrambling to reshipping mid-season. Email info@grandgarden.space with your roster and we'll confirm what we have in stock within a day.

Why Grandgarden

Four Reasons to Order Pre-Made Instead of DIY

3-Day Shipping Before Peak Season

Get your order in before December 20 and it lands in three days. Not next week. Inventory disappears fast during peak season and shipping cutoffs change monthly so check before you checkout. After mid-January things slow down to a week because everyone's ordering at once.

Stretch Fabrics Built for Multiple Wearings

Spandex blends, sequined mesh, lamé trim. Fabrics that move with you and don't shred after wearing them a few times in a month. Seams are double-stitched where they matter. Sequins get both glued and stitched down, not just stuck on. Elastic waistbands hold up through dozens of wears. This is built to last a parade season, not one party.

Sizing That Actually Fits Real Bodies

Toddlers through 14 for kids, XS to XXL for adults. Sizes are based on measuring actual children and actual adults, not vanity numbers or guesses. You get sleeve length, inseam, and chest width. For group orders send a roster and we assign sizes before it ships. No parade morning surprises with half the costumds not fitting.

Mix-and-Match Pieces Across Collections

Throw a ringmaster jacket over an acrobat unitard. Layer clown ruffles onto fortune teller robes. Every product page tells you which combinations look good together so you're not just hoping. Stretch fabrics and sequined mesh work across collections by design, which means you get custom looks without paying custom prices.

What You Should Know Before You Order

Five things that keep parade prep from turning into a nightmare at the last minute.

Shipping Windows Get Tighter

Shipping cutoff calendar showing December through February timeline with color-coded shipping windows

Order by December 20 and you get three days. After that the deadlines shift monthly because we're constantly managing inventory. Come mid-January it's five to seven days out. Late February you're waiting a week minimum. Place your order now. Time's working against you.

Stretch Spandex Holds Up Through Multiple Wearings

The blend is 85 percent polyester with 15 percent spandex. Wash in cold water and lay it flat to dry. Fabric won't stretch out after wearing it three times in a month. Elastic stays tight at the waist. Sequins don't fall off because they're both glued and stitched on.

Sizes Are Based on Actual Measurements

Size chart displaying measurements for children and adults, with sleeve length and inseam specifications clearly marked

Kids from 2T through 14 get sleeve length and inseam. Adults get chest width plus inseam. Nothing left to chance. Groups ordering ten or more matching pieces can send a roster with heights and weights and we'll assign sizes before we ship. That saves you from having to swap things around later.

Five Characters That Layer Together

Five costume characters displayed side-by-side: ringmaster, clown, acrobat, strongman and fortune teller in full regalia

Ringmaster jackets, clown rompers, acrobat unitards, strongman tanks and fortune teller robes all work on their own. But they also combine — throw a ringmaster jacket over the acrobat piece, add clown ruffles to the fortune teller outfit. The product pages show what actually looks good when layered so you're not gambling on how it'll turn out.

Group Orders Discount Kicks In at Ten Pieces

Visual representation of bulk ordering discount structure showing 12 percent savings for 10 or more matching costumes

Buy ten or more identical costumes and the price drops by 12 percent. Single invoice, and you can split shipping to different addresses or consolidate at one pickup location. We also throw in an extra piece free per order as backup in case someone doesn't fit right or your roster changes at the last second. Reach out to info@grandgarden.space with what you need.

What Makes Carnival Costumes Different

December 20 is the Cutoff for 3-Day Shipping

Order by then and your costume shows up in 3 days. After that, add two days to the timeline. January 15 onward takes a week because inventory moves fast when everyone's ordering at once.

Spandex Blends Don't Bag Out After Three Wearings

The fabric's mostly polyester with enough spandex mixed in to keep elastic tight through multiple parades in the same season. Sequins stay because they're attached two ways — glued and stitched. Single-stitch sequins fall off by day two.

Children Sizes Come with Sleeve Length and Inseam

No guessing. Toddler through size 14 are measured from real kids, with room to grow. Opens the box on parade morning and it actually fits.

Adult Sizes Run XS to XXL with real Measurements

Chest width, full inseam, sleeve length. Not some mystery fit. Built for movement, not tight. Oversized pieces like strongman tanks are intentionally loose so the muscle-suit shape reads from the street.

Ringmaster Jackets Layer Over Acrobat Unitards

Mix-and-match works because it's designed that way. Sequined mesh coordinates with spandex blends by fabric type. Product pages show you which combinations actually work so you build custom looks without custom pricing.

Not every combination looks right, but we show which pieces do. Clown collar over fortune teller robe reads cohesive because the neck heights and trim coordinate.

10+ Matching Pieces Get 12 Percent Bulk Discount

Cold Hand-Wash, Lay Flat to Dry — That's All

Two hours total. Skip the machine and dryer because heat ruins elastic and kills the shine on sequins. Simple care means the costume works across three events in a month.

Answers to What You're Actually Wondering

Costume questions come up fast during peak season. Here's what matters: shipping timelines, sizing accuracy, fabric durability, and whether pieces actually work together.

Five to seven days, depending on stock and whether you're ordering mid-peak. January 10 falls after our December 20 cutoff, so you're in the slower window. Need it faster? Call or email — we keep rapid-ship stock in the warehouse, but availability narrows as the season progresses.

No. They're glued and stitched, not just glued. One attachment method fails, you've got the other. We've seen costumes worn three times in four weeks with sequins still intact because they're attached right.

Industrial-grade ones don't. The 85% polyester, 15% spandex blend stays tight through dozens of wears. Hot water and the dryer will wreck them fast, so cold hand-wash and lay flat to dry. That's the whole thing.

Yes, intentionally. Product pages show compatible combinations. Ringmaster over acrobat works because both use sequined mesh or spandex — fabric types coordinate by design. Clown ruffles on fortune teller robes also work. Not every combo reads though, so check before ordering.

Contact info@grandgarden.space within 24 hours of delivery. We expedite exchanges during peak season. Cold hand-wash before you do, so it arrives clean. Reshipping from January 15 onward takes a week, which is why getting sizes right upfront matters — we pre-assign for school groups to eliminate this.

Real kids. Sizes 2T–14 include sleeve length and inseam. Send us heights and weights for group orders and we assign before packing. No opening boxes on parade morning and discovering half the costumes don't fit.

Hand-wash only. Cold water, lay flat to dry, takes a couple hours. Don't machine-wash or use the dryer — heat bags out elastic and dulls sequins. Simple care keeps costumes usable across multiple celebrations if you're wearing the same piece over and over.

Twelve percent off the listed price per item. One invoice covers all of them. Ship to individual homes or one central pickup point — your choice. We throw in an extra costume at no charge in case of fit issues or last-minute roster changes.
